Flashlights can become a life saver in many situations and become more and more important source of light in case of emergency.

Traditional flashlights usually composed by a light bulb, flashlight case and powered by traditional batteries. They can disperse or assemble with ease and also very easy to use. But unfortunately, they are not always dependable. Light bulb used in traditional flashlight has a limited lifespan and always generate an unwanted high heat. It can be broken due to high heat or provide fades light without any warning. More than that light bulb in traditional flashlight consumes much more power than modern flashlight and causing batteries run out quickly. With the same amount of batteries, LED flashlights can provide more power of light and can be last longer at least 10X than traditional flashlights. The less battery you use the more earth friendly you are. LED flashlights can be mentions as long lasting tools; they can be continuous use more than 100 hours before the batteries run dry. It doesn’t generate an unwanted high heat power; provide a constant light even if the batteries are running low; with one set of batteries it can run a hundreds of hours before you need to replace it with new batteries.

The usage of LED flashlights are various in many way. They usually use as a household item for emergency case or disaster kit. People who love an adventure life can bring them for hiking, hunting and camping. Police forces and firemen carry them along with their equipment and make them ready for use in any situations. Keychain LED flashlights can be a good idea as a gift for your friends.

As of to date, there are many leading brand who sale high quality LED flashlights for example, Surefire, Streamlight, Mag-Lite, Inova, Petzl, Pelican.

As the name suggests a Batteryless Flashlight works without any requirement of batteries. One can also call it as the forever flashlight. These types of flashlights need to be shaken back and forth for few seconds and they will give light for many minutes, sometimes even hours. The main features of these Batteryless Flashlights are

1) Never needs any batteries or bulbs

2) Now with magnet and tether strap

3) Compact and water resistant.

Perhaps the biggest feature is that these flashlights are rechargeable at any time.

· Magnetic Batteryless Flashlights

The product Magnetic Batteryless Flashlight is the newest technology among the batteryless flashlights. One just has to shake the flashlights for 60 seconds and you will get up to 2 hours of light from this magnetic batteryless flashlight. These flashlights have three super bright LEDs which emit bluish white light that helps us in viewing clearly in the dark.

There is a high field strength magnet inside these flashlights, that slides back and forth inside a coil of copper wire, as we shake it to generate electric power. This power then gets stored in a small capacitor. The stored energy in the capacitor then powers the high brightness white-light LEDs.

It is prudent to turn the switch off at the time of shaking the flashlights for charging. If the switch is not turned off then pulse with the power spikes coming from the coil can be seen in the LEDs. The operating switch of these batteryless flashlights is durable and intrinsically safe. These flashlights lights are very light in weight and are completely designed to be waterproof. They are also fully portable.

· Dynamo type Batteryless Flashlights

Another type of batteryless flashlights is of dynamo type. These were the oldest technology among the batteryless flashlights. These types of flashlights have little fold-out cranks and we need to wind on for a while so that we can use the light again. In Dynamo type flashlights, by winding the cranks for a few minutes, a sector gear starts to move causing a tiny pinion gear to spin which drives a PM dynamo. The dynamo generates electrical energy which is used to light the LEDs in the batteryless flashlights. For years there have been dynamo types flashlights around that the world those work by squeezing a lever handle. Dynamo type battery free flashlights are quite reliable than the ordinary battery lights.

· Batteryless Flashlights review

The Batteryless flashlights are mainly used for emergency purpose. These flashlights sometimes come with built in FM radio. The main advantage of this Batteryless flashlight is that they are absolutely maintenance free. These flashlights can be stored for long periods of time without the worry of leaking batteries. In case of battery powered flashlights they often have their battery contacts loose

There are many rechargeable flashlights on the market today. Some you shake, some you plug in, but they all have one thing in common: it’s the flashlight that is rechargeable, not just the batteries that make more energy to run the flashlight.

The first flashlight was introduced to the world in 1896 by Conrad Hubert who had purchased the company from Joshua L Cowen. Hubert, together with David Misell designed a tubular flashlight for portable use. They donated several to the New York City Police Department at the time and received favorable reviews.

History of the Rechargeable Flashlight -

The first rechargeable flashlight became available to the safety sector, such as police and firemen, in the late 1970’s and early 1980. Word spread fast about this revolutionary, durable and lightweight flashlight that one would be able to recharge and use again and again. Firemen, policemen, rescue workers, and auto mechanics were the first to purchase the newest in a line of rechargeable flashlights. Auto mechanics choose the rechargeable flashlight because they spend hours under the hood of a car and can use the flashlight for extended periods of time.

Shortly after the rechargeable flashlight came out with rechargeable batteries, the rechargeable flashlight itself came about. This new one did not need the assistance of batteries. This one is a plug in and go type of flashlight, which gains its energy from the electricity in your home, office, or wherever you might be when it’s plugged in.

Powerful Lights -

Because they are more powerful than a regular flashlight, much law enforcement across the country carry a rechargeable flashlight. Giving greater power to the light and what you are able to view with the rechargeable flashlight, there is a new technology that has eliminated the ‘black spot’ in the beam, helping to see more of what is in the circle of light. In addition, emergency personnel carry rechargeable flashlights because in an emergency situation, you don’t want your flashlight giving out on you and the extra light a rechargeable flashlight gives off comes in handy.

Lasting longer and longer, they nearly eliminate the need for constant recharging. A rechargeable flashlight usually plugs in to an electrical outlet for more power. This has also eliminated the need for batteries and a battery charger, which also plugs into an electrical outlet to gain its power.

A rechargeable flashlight is not only one with rechargeable batteries. Even though that is where the rechargeable flashlight got its start: as a flashlight with rechargeable batteries. And there are many batteries to choose from when selecting a rechargeable battery.

LED Flashlights -

Back in 1999, the world was introduced to LED flashlights, which emit more powerful light, longer. Many of the rechargeable flashlights are now LED equipped flashlights. LED is light emitting diode which is a type of bulb inside the flashlight. This bulb has a semi-conductor which separates the positive and negative ions from one another and when enough voltage is applied, through use of a battery normally, they mix together to form a glowing light. LED lights have been around for decades and were frequently used in electronic appliances as ‘pilot’ lights to designate if the circuit was open or closed. Today, LED lights are in everything from flashlights to holiday lights and night lights.

Economically Savvy Flashlights -

Rechargeable flashlights can be found in many places for emergency uses, such as hospitals and schools for when the lights are out. Even in your own home, you can have a rechargeable flashlight plugged in an outlet for emergencies. And the economical advantages are tenfold. You will save money in the long run without having to purchase and repurchase one time use batteries or a charger that goes with rechargeable batteries. Even the battery chargers eventually do stop recharging. A rechargeable flashlight never runs out of ‘juice’ as long as you have an electrical outlet with a positive current or flow of electricity. You are able to recharge your rechargeable flashlight.

There are countless uses for a rechargeable flashlight: on the boat, an RV, your home, in school, and to carry around for safety purposes. They are lightweight, because there are no batteries to weigh it down and they are made of a durable plastic or rubber coating, depending on which brand you choose.

These rechargeable flashlights can be large in which you must carry only the flashlight, or small enough to fit on a key ring. There are many in-between sizes as well. The rechargeable flashlight can be attached to a firearm for law enforcement or military use, or it can be medium sized and clipped to a belt or pocket.

A flashlight, the more common term is torch or electric torch, is a portable electric spotlight which emits light from a small incandescent lightbulb, or from one or more light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The light source is mounted in a housing which contains a parabolic reflector, a clear protective lens, a power source (typically electric batteries), and an electric power switch.

A common misconception about LED-based flashlights is that they generate no heat. While lower-power LED flashlights generate little heat, more powerful LED lights do generate significant amounts of heat – although not as radiant energy, as the semiconductor junction inherently dissipates heat. For this reason higher-powered LED flashlights usually have aluminum bodies and can become quite warm during use.

LED Aluminium Flashlight is one type of durable flashlight. These Flashlights made with a solid aircraft aluminum case, can stand up to the roughest abuse. The LED’s light is captured by a textured reflector which produces a very smooth spot with a wide spill beam.compact and lightweight construction is also perfect put in all kinds of packs .A pocket clip is attached to the side of the light and a clickie switch is on the Aluminium body.

Plastic led flashlights are made of ABS plastic. Anti-shock switch, non clip with comfortable plastic skin of the LED flashlights.

Rubber led flashlights are made of rugged ABS plastic with rubber grip or heavy-duty rubber case. Its main feature is anti-shock and weatherproof. End strap of rubber flashlight for easy carrying. It fits conveniently into a backpack, a tackle box, a glove compartment, or can be clipped to a pocket, or carried by the wrist loop.Rubber led flashlights are more than anti-shock and weatherproof than Plastic led flashlights. Plastic led flashlights are weight lighter than rubber led flashlights.

Mini Led Flashlight are small, bright, low price, easy to operate. Mini led flashlights need a little powers, so their lives are much longer.

Lately in military service, sometime a soldier has to buy his own gears during his service. And there are certain items that sold out very quickly, Maglite LED flashlights is one of them. Maglite is one of the most popular brands available on the market today. They can provide quality lighting, very durable with affordable price. Maglite LED flashlights are widely used in military services, police forces and civilians like ourselves.

Maglite LED flashlights are one of the most sturdy and durable flashlights. These flashlights can be used for hiking, camping, fishing, rescue operations and combat operations. I have used my Maglite in outdoor activities so many times but never break it even once. The only problem I encountered some times is that they tend to burn out fairly easy if I continuously switch the flashlight on for hours. You can avoid this problem by shutting it off every half hour for 10 – 30 minutes to cool down the heat cause by the light bulbs. But this problem only applies to Maglite mini only. A larger Maglite model does not share this problem at all.

Maglite LED flashlight is fairly easy to use and very user friendly. All you have to do is switch the flashlight on and you are ready to start your adventure. Some models included a twistable head piece that you can twist to adjust the light beam to any size of your need. Maglite also come in several colors of your liking such as camouflage, black, red, silver, blue, gray, purple and so on. Another reason that makes Maglite to be one of the best LED flashlights is a variety of accessories that can be found in many stores. It becomes very handy when you need some of spare parts such as light bulbs or lenses. Furthermore, Maglite also sells different colored lenses for your flashlights. In actual combat zone, sometime you can not always depend on your white light. Some occasion you might have to replace your flashlight lenses to blue, orange, red, or green depends on your surrounding. Most likely these colored lenses can and do save your lives in the heat of combat zones.

Other than Maglite, there are many other leading brand who sale high quality LED flashlights. Some examples of them are Surefire, Streamlight, Inova, Petzl, and Pelican. They come with variety of features and focus on different proposes. Petzl is one of the leading brands who is popular with headlamp LED flashlights while Surefire, Streamlight and Inova is focus on tactical LED flashlights. It is better for you to learn more about each product that best suite your need. You can search through internet and read product reviews and see what other customers think about each flashlight.

As some of you might be aware, LED flashlights are power efficient tool, have a good impact and vibration proof. They are reliably in any situations. The batteries will not dry out easily. The light bulb will not burn out without any notices. Its sturdiness is why I continue to use LED flashlights. I would recommend LED flashlight especially Maglite LED flashlight to anyone who may encounter the dark sometime.

Every home has a flashlight, although they never seem to have working batteries in them, but that’s a whole other story. Flashlights are an important part of every home’s emergency preparedness plan, but which type of flashlight is best for you? Here are some quick tips.

Do you know how the flashlight actually got its name? Many years ago these lights got their power from dry cell batteries. Well, the dry cell battery wouldn’t last very long so people would switch their flashlight on and off continuously to see in the dark. Sort of like the effects of a strobe light.

Technology has certainly changed from those early days. Longer life batteries, brighter light bulbs and even battery less flashlights have become the norm. Your choices have never been greater.
A flashlight (also known an electric torch or torch) is a handy electric spotlight which emits light from a small incandescent light bulb.

If you are at the marketplace for a waterproof flashlight, you ought to make sure that you acquire one that will bring about the responsibilities you desire.

Uses of waterproof flashlights

You never know when a waterproof flashlight might come functional. Many people bring one in their:

Car
Boat
Rv
Plane
There are also many people that use waterproof flashlights such as:
Firemen
Policemen
Scuba divers
Rescue workers
Boat repairmen
Plumbers
Utility workers
Forestry workers
Miners

These types of flashlights are necessary because it’s a part of the endurance kit equipment for the outdoor journey enthusiasts. These flashlights can deal with most of nature’s elements and can take an infrequent descent into water. However while you consider buying yourself a waterproof flashlight, think about several essential features that normally exist with the most popular flashlights.

When it comes to quality and durability for your waterproof flashlight you may be wondering, which brands are at the top of the list? A list of the leading waterproof flashlights brands also includes headlamps, which you might use during scuba diving.

Water-resistant flashlights are perfect for divers for their underwater journey. These flashlights come in different sizes and features and meet various application needs. They mostly are used for diving in the night or at dusk and also commonly used for underwater videography. The waterproof flashlights used for these purposes are typically camera prepared on flexible arms to direct light.

Flashlights are an absolutely important piece of equipment which you would definitely carry when you enter caves. The caving flashlights indeed are perfect for such expeditions as they are specifically built for this function. Not only they are powerful, but also take less time to charge and generate powerful bright light necessary within a cave.

Hence, caving flashlights are hard-wearing. A caving expedition demands packing your back pack and consequently the flashlight misuse starts from this position. Inside the cave, the flashlight has to take on bumps, and occasional falls and underwater plunge and that is why we call for its durability. It has to handle the circumstances well and that is why a few popular styles are built in for situations just like that. Weight is the second feature of waterproof caving flashlights. A heavy flashlight definitely will be difficult to carry and so the popular flashlights are lighter. Third feature of the caving flashlights is that the bright light and high-quality batteries must last long and charge easily. Some of the prominent models use a nickel-cadmium 3.6 volt battery which is rechargeable up to 1,000 times. This can power extremely bright 3.7-volt, 6-watt xenon packed bi-pin bulb.

Best waterproof flashlights
A list of leading waterproof flashlights brands include:

Waterproof Headlamp Changeable Spot/Flood
Bushnell 10 0100C 3-Watt Luxeon LED Waterproof Flashlight
LL Bean: Trident Streamlight Headlight
Keychain Pro Flashlight
Streamlight ProPolymer LED Flashlight
Princeton Tec Attitude LED Flashlight
Expedition 1900 – 19 LED Waterproof Flashlight
Insight M6 Tactical Laser Illuminator Excalibur Forever Flashlight
Princeton Tec Impact XL Waterproof LED Flashlight

There are several manufacturers who make waterproof flashlights for a number of function needs. The handheld water-resistant flashlights are greatly used among divers, since they are much less expensive to buy and are low maintenance. Handheld waterproof flashlights regularly have one or two openings, one for the head and batteries and one for the switch.

Another popular choice are the secondary or back up lights which are usually small and hand-held. Most of the tiny flashlights are small enough to put in your pocket or clip to a retractor. In the absence of waterproof flashlight any sort of underwater operation is almost unattainable and that is why there is at all times a waterproof flashlight obtainable for all requirements.

Rechargeable flashlights have extraordinarily low operating expense and are well suited to frequent use. They can often support a brighter bulb or LED and store conveniently in custom charger holders. The initial purchase price is higher and they self-discharge at a higher rate when in storage, but for long term use rechargeable lights offer significant savings over disposable battery lights. Many rechargeable flashlights have Light Emitting Diodes. LED Bulbs have solid state construction and are extremely durable. Because of their long life (up to 100,000 hours) they do not require periodic replacement. They have a soft, easy glow and are great for close viewing. They are generally not nearly as powerful as incandescent, but lower powered bulbs can have run times with hundreds of hours in some flashlights. Optics planet also offers an extensive line of flashlight accessories including: holsters, pouches, lanyards, lamp modules, filters, spare batteries and bulbs, lamp carriers and Lithium batteries and other.

To solve the many problems of the traditional flashlights, many different types of rechargeable flashlights were developed. Many of these flashlights generally use a dry cell to recharge the electric bulbs in the flashlight. Besides being less damaging to the environment, the rechargeable flashlight is more durable, and more luminous than the traditional battery powered flashlights. A variety of different models of the original rechargeable flashlight are now on the market. Some styles use electricity to recharge, some are powered by solar energy, and the bulbs in the flashlight can be Xenon, halogen, or LED lights. So, now you can obviously see for yourself just how advanced these new flashlights have become.

The flashlight has made a lot of progress from a primitive torch to brilliant long lasting LED lamps, to sun powered rechargeable flashlights. The old style flashlights utilized alkaline batteries, their lamps were not designed to be used for a long time, and the lamps were weak. New advancements improved upon the performance and function of traditional flashlights, but these flashlights still required their environmentally damaging alkaline batteries to be changed frequently. Besides battery replacement, traditional flashlights break often, and the strength of their light is still inferior.

Incandescent lamps inherently draw large start-up currents because of the filament’s relatively low resistance when it is cold. A tungsten filament’s resistance is typically 10 times lower when cold than it is when at normal operating temperature. But while using rechargeable flashlights with LED bulbs the amount of electricity needed for charging the batteries are extreme minimum. Some of the top listed rechargeable flashlights are Hand – Powered LED Flashlight, Multi -Function LED Flashlight, Omega Flashlight, Powell Flashlight, Superior Flashlight, Metal LED Flashlight, Delta Flashlight, Mission Flashlight, Venus Flashlight, Mead Flashlight, Mars Flashlight, Quest Flashlight, Placid Flashlight and more.

If you’re in the market for a flashlight, save your self money over the long run and invest in an LED flashlight. Longer life and brighter light are just two of the advantages of using LED flashlights.

Because the LED bulbs tend to be hardier than the older, fragile, incandescent bulbs, dropping one’s LED flashlight in the dark does not necessarily mean losing the use of the flashlight. Since it doesn’t use the same fragile voltage wire of the old bulbs it proves to be stronger and more resilient. These flashlights use only about 5-10% of the power of traditional flashlights, which means longer battery life. Another reason for the longer lifespan of an LED flashlight is that it is less draining on the batteries since it uses about a third of the power needed in incandescent bulbs. Many LED flashlights are waterproof also. This is a perk when it is necessary to use the flashlight in the rain or snow.

Brighter light is important when using an LED flashlight in the dark. Whether changing a tire or looking for dropped keys, the brighter light is a godsend. Because of the innovation of a tiny mirror placed in the bulb the light from an LED flashlight is utilized where the user needs it most. The light from an LED flashlight can be seen up to a mile away. Rather than producing a ring of light like the old flashlights it is a brighter, more focused, directional light.

When the power goes out, and your safety is concerned, trust a flashlight you know will work. LED flashlights are the future, get yours today.
